Is it necessary to install a battery management system for lead acid batteries?

Yes, adding a battery management system for lead acid batteries is necessary. It can be used to:

  1. To prevent overcharging, over-discharging, and overheating, keep a close watch on essential battery metrics like voltage, current, and temperature.
  2. Some lead-acid battery packs may require equalization to ensure that the various battery cells have similar states of charge.
  3. The lead-acid battery BMS is responsible for regulating charging and discharging to enhance battery pack performance and lifespan, thus preventing overcharging and over-discharging.
